Damascus: The situation in Syria is continuously worsening. The rebels have captured three major cities in Syria, including Aleppo, Homs, and Daraa. The rebels have surrounded the capital Damascus. Abu Mohammad al-Golani, head of the Syrian rebel group ‘Jihadi Hayat Tahriral-Sham group (HTS), said in an interview with ‘CNN’ from Syria that the purpose of the attack is to oust Assad’s government from power. Syria’s Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Jalali has said that he is ready to hand over the reins of governance to the opposition in a peaceful manner. Jalali said, “I am at my residence and have not gone anywhere and this is because I love my country.” He said that he would go to his office to work in the morning and he also urged Syrian citizens not to damage public property.

Prime Minister Jalali did not comment on reports that President Bashar al-Assad has left the country. The United Arab Emirates has also not given any information about Assad’s whereabouts. Assad’s family owns a lot of property in Dubai.
Damascus airport evacuated
Pro-government ‘Sham FM radio’ reported that Damascus airport has been evacuated and all flights have been stopped. Rebels have said that they have entered the Saidnaya military prison located north of the capital and freed the prisoners from there. One night before this, government forces retreated from Homs, Syria’s tthird-largestcity, after which opposition forces captured it. This city is located between the capital Damascus and Syria’s coastal provinces Latakia and Tartus.
