Lucknow: The date for the by-election on the Milkipur assembly seat of Ayodhya has not been announced yet, but both the BJP and the Samajwadi Party have intensified their preparations. The BJP is full of enthusiasm after winning six seats in the recently concluded by-election on nine assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh and now winning the Milkipur seat has become a matter of prestige for it. While the BJP will try its best to win this seat, the Samajwadi Party will also try its best to capture this seat.
There was a problem in the Milkipur by-election.
The by-election for the Milkipur seat was also to be held along with the by-elections for nine assembly seats, but the by-election could not be held here due to petitions filed in the court regarding the election for this seat in the assembly elections held in the year 2022. The Allahabad High Court allowed the withdrawal of two petitions challenging the election of SP leader Prasad from the Milkipur constituency in the 2022 assembly elections, paving the way for a by-election on the seat.
BJP performed well in the by-elections held on nine seats
In the recently concluded by-elections for nine assembly seats, the BJP performed well and won six seats, including SP stronghold Kundarki in Moradabad, while its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) got one seat. The SP won Sisamau and Karhal assembly seats but its vote percentage declined significantly in both these areas.
BJP and SP will put in their best efforts
Milkipur seat is also important because it is a part of the Ayodhya Lok Sabha constituency which was won by SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad in the last Lok Sabha elections. Before that,t he was an MLA from Milkipur assembly seat. After being elected MP, his resignation from this seat has made it necessary to hold a by-election here.
In the Milkipur assembly by-election, the BJP may try to consolidate Hindu voters through slogans like ‘If divided, they will be cut off’ while the SP may rely on its ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit and Minority) slogan.
