The National Anti-Doping Agency has suspended India’s star wrestler Bajrang Punia for four years. He refused to give his sample for the dope test in March. This is why NADA has had to make this big decision. His suspension will start on April 23, 2024.

NADA first suspended Bajrang Punia for this offense on 23 April. After which the world governing body UWW also suspended him. Then Bajrang appealed against the suspension. After this, NADA’s Disciplinary Doping Panel (ADDP) revoked it on 31 May. Until NADA issued a notice of charge. Then NADA gave notice to Bajrang on 23 June.
Will not return to competitive wrestling
The panel believes that the athlete is liable for sanctions under Article 10.3.1, which is a suspension of four years. Bajrang was earlier provisionally suspended. The suspension of four years will start from the day the notification was sent to him. The suspension means that Bajrang will not be able to return to competitive wrestling and will not be able to apply for a coaching job abroad if he wants to.

Bajrang Punia has won a bronze medal in wrestling for India at the Tokyo Olympics. But he was involved in protests against former Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Vinesh has been elected to the Legislative Assembly from Julana in Haryana.
