Dhaka: After the US court took action against Gautam Adani, many countries of the world have started canceling or reviewing the projects related to his company. Recently, Kenya announced the cancellation of a project related to Adani. After this, now Bangladesh has also made a big announcement regarding a project related to Adani. Bangladesh has recommended appointing an agency to investigate the power agreements signed by the government of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with various business groups including India’s Adani Group.

In this regard, the interim government had constituted a review committee, which made this recommendation on Sunday. An official statement said, “The National Review Committee of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has recommended appointing a reputed legal and investigation agency to review major power generation agreements signed during the autocratic rule of Sheikh Hasina from 2009 to 2024.” The office of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus issued a statement saying that the committee is currently reviewing seven major energy and power projects.

Projects related to Adani will be investigated.

This includes Adani (Godda) BIFPCL’s 1,234.4 MW coal-based plant. Adani (Godda) BIFPCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Power Limited. Among the six other agreements, one has been signed with a Chinese company, which has built a 1,320 MW coal-based power plant. The rest of the agreements have been signed with Bangladeshi business groups, who are said to be close to the previous government.
