When will Kharmas start and end?

This year Kharmas is starting on 15 December. Kharmas will end on 14 January 2025. According to the Panchang, on 15 December at 10:19 pm, the Sun will transit in Sagittarius, which is called Dhanu Sankranti. Kharmas will start as soon as the Sun transits in Sagittarius, which will last till 14 January.

• During Kharmas, it is forbidden to perform auspicious functions such as marriage, housewarming, engagement, etc.
• One should keep a distance from evil things during Kharmas. 
• No new work should be started during Kharmas. 
• If Jupiter is in an inauspicious position in someone’s horoscope, then measures related to Jupiter should be taken during Kharmas. 
• Worshiping Sun God and Lord Vishnu in Kharmas is fruitful.
• During Kharmas, the housewarming of the new bride should not be done.
• Activities like mundan and naamkaran are also not done in Kharmas.
• Chanting Vishnu Mantra during Kharmas is considered very fruitful.
