Chandigarh: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday avoided a direct answer on his return to active politics in Punjab, saying his party high command can answer the question. Sidhu has not been taking part in party programs and activities for the past several months. He did not even campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or the by-elections in four assembly constituencies – Gidderbaha, Barnala, Dera Baba Nanak, and Chabbewal.

Earlier, Sidhu attacked the Aam Aadmi Party government on several issues including rising debt. In March, he met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and urged an independent audit assessment by a group of financial experts on the alleged deteriorating financial condition of the state.

Addressing the media, he said that his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu has now recovered from cancer. Talking about his wife’s recovery from cancer, he said that I am feeling proud that Noni (his wife) has been medically declared cancer-free today. The former minister said that Navjot Kaur Sidhu was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago. He said that his wife has now completely recovered from the disease.
