The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Delhi for Monday (November 18). According to IMD, there may be dense fog in Delhi on Monday. At the same time, due to the continuously deteriorating air, it has been decided to implement Grape-4 in Delhi from Monday (November 18). Along with this, there are also signs of increasing cold in Delhi. It is snowing in the northern states and strong winds are blowing in Noida on Sunday night. It is clear from this that there is going to be severe cold in Delhi NCR in the coming days.  

Along with Delhi, warnings have been issued for Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. The weather department wrote on the X, “Dense to very dense fog is likely in some areas of Haryana and Chandigarh during the late night of November 17 and the morning of November 18 and dense fog will continue for the next 24 hours.”

Delhi is the second most polluted city in the country.

Delhi’s air quality deteriorated further on Sunday with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 441, making it the second most polluted city in the country. The national capital’s AQI was recorded at 441 at 4 pm, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. On Saturday, the AQI was 417. Four cities in the country recorded AQI in the ‘severe’ category. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Bahadurgarh in Haryana recorded the highest AQI at 445, followed by Delhi at 441, Haryana’s Bhiwani at 415 and Rajasthan’s Bikaner at 404. Out of 40 monitoring stations in Delhi, 32 stations recorded air quality in the ‘severe category’ with AQI levels above 400.

November 16 is the coldest day of this season.

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Saturday was recorded at 15.3 degrees Celsius, which is the lowest temperature so far this season. With the fall in night temperature, fog prevailed in the national capital and cold winds blew in the morning and evening. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.6 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees above normal. On Friday, the minimum temperature in the national capital was 15.6 degrees Celsius, which was the second-lowest temperature of this season. Meanwhile, the visibility at Safdarjung dropped to 300 meters at 8.30 am and the humidity level remained between 94 percent and 79 percent throughout the day. The Meteorological Department has predicted mist and dense fog on Sunday morning and evening and the maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 29 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively.
