A Kolkata court on Monday began hearing the rape and murder case of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The case was heard in a closed room in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anirban Das. During this, the main accused Sanjay Roy was present in the court. Police sources said that the deceased’s father was also present in the court as a witness.

Roy was brought to the court in the afternoon. While coming out of the court, he once again claimed that he was innocent and had been framed in the case by the administration. Roy told reporters, “They did not let me speak even today. I have not done anything. I have been framed.”

Sanjay has claimed to be innocent.

When charges were framed against Roy on November 4, he had claimed innocence. Roy has been booked under Sections 64 (rape), 66 (punishment for causing death or putting a person in a coma), and 103 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Kolkata Police arrested Roy a day after the body of a woman doctor, who was allegedly raped and killed, was found in a seminar room of RG Kar Hospital. Later, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation of the case at the direction of the Calcutta High Court. The incident sparked outrage across the country.

After being caught, he accepted the charges.

Sanjay Roy had confessed to rape and murder after being caught. He had also told how he carried out the crime. Sanjay Roy had told during interrogation that he had drunk alcohol on the night of the incident and had also gone to the red light area. After this, he came to the hospital and carried out the crime and went to the police station and slept. He was also a volunteer of the Bengal Police. Due to this, he used to visit both the hospital and the police station frequently.
