A major railway accident was averted in Bihar. The railway engine derailed near the route relay interlocking crossing of Jamalpur railway station in Munger district. After this, three wheels of the railway engine came off the railway line. However, luckily no major accident occurred during this time. Due to this accident with the railway engine, there was chaos at Jamalpur railway station for some time.
How did the accident happen?
According to information received from the railway, after stopping the rail engine, the shunting man and the loco pilot left the place. After some time, the engine moved forward about 50 meters on its own, and near RRI, three wheels of the engine came off the track. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the personnel of the engineering and carriage department reached the spot and with jacks and other equipment in their hands, started trying to bring the derailed wheels back on the track.
Many trains were affected.
Due to this accident caused by the rail engine, the operation of trains passing through the number three line on the Kiul-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur rail section was stopped. However, trains on the up-down route continued to run on the number one and two lines. The Brahmaputra Mail going from Delhi to Kamakhya on the down route and the Intercity going from Sahibganj to Danapur on the upline were affected for half an hour.
Railways ordered an inquiry.
After this incident, railway officials have ordered an inquiry. An order to investigate this incident has also been issued by Malda Railway Division. At the time of the incident, the team of PWI and section engineer immediately reached the spot. According to officials, an electric engine number 30029 was parked on line number three of Jamalpur station on Friday evening, November 8.
