New Delhi: The Canadian government blocked the social media account page of Australian TV news channel ‘Australia Today’ for showing the press conference of Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar. The Indian Foreign Ministry has strongly reacted to this and slammed Canada. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday that we have come to know that the social media handle and page of an important diaspora outlet in Canada has been blocked. This incident has exposed Canada’s hypocrisy towards freedom of expression.
Australian channel had shown jaishankar’s PC
Canada took this action a few hours after the press conference of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong. In this press conference, Jaishankar raised the issue of Canada accusing India without any proof. The Australian channel telecasted this press conference in Canada.
The Foreign Ministry reprimanded Canada.
Randhir Jaiswal said that Canada took this action just hours after broadcasting the press conference of Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar with Penny Wong. We were surprised. We found it strange. This once again exposes Canada’s hypocrisy towards freedom of expression. The Foreign Minister talked about three things in his media programs. First, allegations by Canada without any specific evidence. Second, unacceptable monitoring of Indian diplomats in Canada. Third, political space is being given to anti-India elements in Canada. From this, you can conclude why the Australia Today channel was blocked by Canada.
Said this about the attack on the temple
On the attack on a Hindu temple in Canada, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that we condemn the attack on the temple in Brampton. We have also called on the Canadian government to uphold the rule of law and bring to justice those who promote violence. We hope that the Canadian government will take appropriate action.
This information was given regarding the consulate camp.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that you must have seen the message posted by our Consulate in Toronto that they have had to cancel the consulate camp that was to be held over the weekend because they did not get adequate security or safety assurances from the government. We have a large expatriate community in Canada. So this consulate camp that we organize is useful for the community. I understand that in other parts of Canada, for example in Vancouver, consulate camps will be organized. These consulate camps are organized at the request of community organizations.
