Varanasi: A major railway accident was averted in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Two trains came face to face on the same track in Varanasi. Swatantrata Senani Express and Ayodhya Dham Special narrowly escaped collision. According to the information, due to chain pulling, the Swatantrata Senani Express going from New Delhi to Jamnagar was standing in the yard of Varanasi Junction. Due to this, the rear part of the Swatantrata Senani train stopped just beyond the signal crossing.
Both trains escaped collision.
Bilaspur-Ayodhya Dham Special was given the green signal from the remaining Varanasi Junction platform number 3. When this special train reached the yard of Varanasi Junction, the driver saw that the rear part of Swatantrata Senani Express was ahead on the same line. The driver of the train showed presence of mind and immediately applied emergency brakes. Due to reduced speed, Ayodhya Dham Special stopped about 50 meters before Swatantrata Senani. This averted a major accident.

The driver first informed the Varanasi Cantt control room and then the officials of his zone about the incident. After listening to the loco pilot on the wireless set, a team of officials and employees immediately reached the spot. Railway officials reached the spot and sent off both the trains. After the incident, the passengers also heaved a sigh of relief.

At the same time, an order has been given to investigate this accident. The railway has formed an investigation committee of the concerned departments. It is believed that after the investigation report comes, action can be taken against the culprits.
