The Pakistan team is currently on a tour of Australia, where it has reached to play a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches. The start has not been good for the Pakistani team under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, in which they had to face a close defeat by 2 wickets in the first ODI of the series played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground i.e. MCG on 4 November. The matches played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the last few years have emerged as a very bad memory for the Pakistani team, which this match has also been added, where they lost the match despite being very close to winning. Now the pain of fast bowler Haris Rauf, part of the Pakistani squad, has also come to the fore regarding this.
We have lost many close matches at the MCG in the last few years.
In the T20 World Cup held in 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a group stage match was played between India and Pakistan in which the victory of the Pakistani team seemed certain, but Virat Kohli’s memorable historic unbeaten innings changed the picture of the entire match. After this, in the final of the same tournament, which was played at the MCG, the Pakistani team had to face a close defeat against England. Regarding this, Haris Rauf said after the defeat in the first ODI against Australia that there are some memories on this ground that we can never forget. We have lost some close matches here, including the match against India in the T20 World Cup and the final match as well. We made some mistakes in those matches, but now we want to live in the present because the future is not in our hands, we want to enjoy the present time to the fullest.
Sometimes the result is not in our hand.
Haris Rauf further said in his statement that sometimes the result does not go in our favor and we have to accept it and move forward by learning from the mistakes. We have a lot of extra runs in this ODI match but when you bowl aggressively, such things happen and you have to accept it. We could have defended this target and we also tried a lot but could not succeed.
