Who is Lord Dhanvantri?
Lord Dhanvantri is considered the father of Ayurveda. For those who practice Ayurveda and medicines, the day of Dhanvantri Trayodashi holds special significance. Lord Dhanvantri has four arms. He holds a conch in one of his upper hands, a vase in the second, herbs in the third hand, and Ayurveda texts in the fourth. According to the Puranas, Lord Dhanvantri appeared with a vase of nectar during the Samudra Manthan. Therefore, buying brass utensils on Dhanteras is considered auspicious. Method of Worship of Lord Dhanvantari
- Take a bath and wear clean clothes on the day of Dhanteras
- Clean the temple or prayer room and purify it by sprinkling Gangajal
- Now set up a puja chowki in the north-east direction
- Place an idol or picture of Lord Dhanvantari on this stand
- Then remember Lord Dhanvantari and perform Abhishekam
- Worship Lord Dhanvantari with Shodashopachar method
- Chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Dhanvantraya Vishnurupaya Namo Namah’ 108 times.
