Lahore:  Christian leaders have complained to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan against the poisonous words of fugitive Indian Zakir Naik and have demanded action. Christian leaders of Pakistan have written a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif saying that action should be taken against Islamic preacher Zakir Naik for making inappropriate comments on Christianity. Let us tell you that Zakir Naik had reached Pakistan on a month long visit on the invitation of the Pakistan Government. During this period Naik had given “controversial” lectures in cities like Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.

It is important to mention that this is his first visit to Pakistan in the last three decades. Earlier, Zakir came to Pakistan in 1992. Naik left India in 2016 due to allegations of money laundering and inciting extremism through hate speeches. He was granted permanent residence in Malaysia by the previous government led by Mahathir Mohammad. Head Bishop of Synod-Church of Pakistan Dr. Azad Marshall and other Christian leaders wrote a letter to Sharif and Zardari saying that it is reprehensible that Naik, who came as a state guest, made adverse comments about Christians and their religion.

Zakir’s poisonous words

Christian leaders have accused Zakir Naik of using venomous language. Along with this, they requested to take action against him and take effective steps to prevent such things in future. The letter said, “Dr. Zakir Naik’s public addresses have created anger in the Christian community as he openly questioned the authenticity of our religion, made inappropriate comments on our holy scriptures and made false statements.”
