Karachi: A young man in Pakistan allegedly killed four female members of his family, including his mother and sister, over their use of social media. Police said the accused, Bilal Ahmed, was arrested and produced in court on Monday, where he was sent to police custody. During the court hearing, Bilal said he slit the throats of his mother, sister, niece, and sister-in-law because their liberal lifestyle had ruined his married life and they always taunted him.
There was a fight every day.
Police officer Shaukat Awan, who is investigating the case, said, “This is a clear case of Bilal being mentally unstable and ultra-conservative.” The bodies of the four women were found in their apartment in the old Soldier Bazaar area of Karachi. Awan said, “During the investigation, it was found that Bilal used to quarrel with these women daily and he blamed them and their liberal lifestyle for his wife leaving him because she was a religious woman.”
There was an objection to the use of social media.
The police officer said, “Bilal also had an objection to the four women using social media. He was angry with his sister and niece for posting their pictures and videos on social media.” Bilal told the police that initially he wanted to “only teach his sister a lesson”, but later he realized that he could not leave any eyewitness alive, so he killed all four women.
