Islamabad: Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Pakistan has ended its protest on Tuesday. PTI has done this because the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is going to start here amid tight security. In the two-day meeting, ongoing cooperation in the field of economy, trade, environment, and socio-cultural relations will be discussed and the functioning of the organization will be reviewed. The CHG meeting will be chaired by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Assurance from the government
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had agreed to end its protest in the capital on Monday night. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has taken this decision after the government’s assurance that it will allow a medical team to meet Imran Khan.
PTI had announced a protest
Ahead of the SCO meeting, authorities had banned all meetings with prisoners in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, including Imran Khan. Following this, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced protests to force the government to allow a doctor to meet Khan in jail. The issue was resolved late Monday night when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf accepted the government’s assurance that a doctor would be allowed to meet Khan on Tuesday.
