With this, Pakistan became the first team in the history of Test cricket which had to face defeat even after scoring 550+ runs in the first innings of the match.

The PCB has not given any information about the reason for the exclusion of Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Sarfaraz Khan. In place of these four players, they have included Hasibullah, Mehran Mumtaz, Kamran Ghulam, fast bowler Mohammad Ali, and off-spinner Sajid Khan. Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmood, who were initially part of the original first Test squad but were later released, have also been included in the 16-player squad.
