Paying tribute to the late Ratan Tata, InterGlobe Enterprises Group Managing Director Rahul Bhatia on Thursday said IndiGo will work closely with Air India to ensure India takes its rightful place in the global aviation sector. “As we all know, Tata was very fond of flying machines, and I am very happy to see that Air India is back to where it belonged,” Bhatia said in a statement, PTI reported. Tata, who was also the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, died on Wednesday night.

I’m too young to say that.

According to the news, Bhatia said that although I am a very small man to say this, paying tribute to Tata’s love for flying and his vision for the future of Indian aviation, IndiGo, very humbly, will work together with Air India to ensure India’s rightful place in the global aviation sector. InterGlobe Enterprises is the parent company of the country’s largest airline IndiGo. Bhatia also recalled that he had the opportunity to interact with Tata when he returned from college in 1985.

Tata left a lasting impression on me.

According to Bhatia, he discussed the opportunity for a three-way collaboration on the creation of digital telephone switches (exchanges) between the Tata Group, Nortel (then known as Northern Telecom), and the old incarnation of InterGlobe. He said that although this initiative did not succeed, Tata’s refreshing openness and humility left an indelible impression on me. In addition, Bhatia said that in this extremely difficult time, his condolences are with the Tata family and the employees of the Tata Group.
