Automobile company Kia India will launch its first electric car for the mass market next year. Kia India has set a target of selling a total of 4 lakh vehicles annually in the country by 2030. Let us tell you that Kia India is currently selling an EV named EV-6 in the country, whose price starts at Rs 60.96 lakh. The company on Thursday launched another electric car EV9 in the Indian market, which is priced at Rs 1.3 crore. Both these electric cars are completely manufactured abroad (CBU) and have been imported and introduced in the Indian market.
Planning to bring new models keeping in mind the Indian market
Kia India Managing Director and CEO Gwangju Lee said that the company plans to introduce an electric model for the wider Indian market next year. Along with this, Kia also plans to strengthen its position in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment and the company is considering bringing new models keeping in mind the demand of the Indian market. However, the company has no plans to enter the micro SUV segment. Lee said that the company plans to achieve the target of selling 4 lakh vehicles annually in the Indian market by 2030.
India is the third largest market for Kia
India is the third largest market for Kia globally. Kia India also launched the EV9 electric SUV priced at Rs 1.3 crore along with the Carnival Limousine priced at Rs 63.9 lakh in the Indian market. On this occasion, Kia India’s Sales and Marketing Head Hardeep Singh Brar said that the company aims to sell 2.5 lakh vehicles in the current calendar year. When asked about festive sales, he said that this time there will be a jump in sales. Brar said, “We had to face some slowdown in the last few months but it is expected to be compensated by festive sales.”
