Missile Defense System: Public sector undertaking Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Israel’s leading aerospace and defense company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have announced the establishment of a joint venture company (JVC). Its name will be BEL IAI Aerosystems Private Limited. Bengaluru-headquartered BEL said in a statement on Thursday that this joint venture company with its registered office in Delhi will be a single point of contact (SPOC) to provide long-term product support to the medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) systems of India’s ss defense forces.
Both companies are collaborating on several joint programs for the armed forces.
The statement said, “This partnership is another important step towards strengthening the relationship between the two companies, which have a long history of collaboration for strategic programs. BEL and IAI are collaborating on several joint programs for the three armies. ” BEL said that the joint venture company has been established to provide technical and maintenance support for the country’s MRSAM air defense systems. The company formed under the joint venture will benefit from the capabilities of both IAI and BEL. This is in line with the Government of India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
What is the MRSAM system?
MRSAM is an advanced path-breaking air and missile defense system. It protects a wide range of aerial threats. It was jointly developed by IAI and DRDO for the defense forces of India and is currently used by the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Navy, and also the Israeli Defence Forces. The system comprises an advanced phased array radar, command and control shelter, mobile launchers, and an interceptor with an advanced RF seeker.
