For the first time in the history of ODI cricket, Australia got so many overs bowled by spinners, creating a great record

England vs Australia ODI Series: The Australian team performed brilliantly in ODI cricket against England and won the five-match series 3-2. Australia won the fifth match by 49 runs on Duckworth Lewis rule. Steve Smith was captaining the Australian team in this match. Under his captaincy, the team won the toss and decided to bowl first. England gave Australia a target of 310 runs to win. 

Ben Duckett scored a century. 

England’s openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett batted brilliantly. Both these players played strokes all over the field. Salt got out after scoring 45 runs. While Duckett scored a brilliant century and because of him England’s team was able to reach a big score. He scored 107 runs in 91 balls. Captain Harry Brook played an innings of 72 runs. But England’s run rate was curbed as soon as these players got out. Australia’s captain Steve Smith played a masterstroke and got a lot of overs bowled by the spinners and England’s batsmen had to face trouble in playing the spinners.

The Australian team got 32.2 overs bowled by the spinners. Never before had Australia got so many overs bowled by spinners in an ODI match. Earlier in 2019, Australia had 32 overs bowled by spinners against Pakistan in an ODI match. In the match against England, Adam Zampa bowled 10 overs, Glenn Maxwell bowled 10 overs, Cooper Connolly bowled 4 overs, Matthew Short bowled 2 overs and Travis Head bowled 6.2 overs for Australia. Fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood bowled 6-6 overs. Aaron Hardy bowled 5 overs. 

Matthew Short hits a half-century

After this, Travis Head and Matthew Short gave Australia a great start. Short scored a half-century. He played an innings of 58 runs. Apart from this, Travis Head contributed 31 runs. Steve Smith remained not out after scoring 36 runs and Jos English remained not out after scoring 28 runs. Australia had scored 165 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 20.4 overs. Then the game could not be played due to rain and Australia won by Duckworth Lewis rule.
