Allahabad High Court on Tuesday made a serious comment on the long legal battle between an elderly couple regarding alimony. The court said it seems that Kali Yuga has arrived. Such a legal battle even at the age of 80 is a matter of concern. While hearing the petition of Aligarh resident Munesh Kumar Gupta, Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamsheri also tried to advise the elderly couple.

What is the whole matter of the elderly couple?

Let us tell you that 80-year-old Munesh Kumar Gupta has retired from the post of supervisor in the health department. His wife Gayatri Devi is 76 years old. There is a property dispute going on between the two. On February 16 this year, the family court gave its verdict, in which Judge Jyoti Singh ordered that the husband should pay 5 thousand rupees every month for the maintenance of his wife. The husband has challenged this order of the family court in the Allahabad High Court.

It is said that the husband Munesh Kumar Gupta had a fight with his wife Gayatri Devi over the property. The matter reached the police and was transferred to the family counseling center. However, the matter could not be resolved and after that, both started living separately. Then Gayatri Devi filed a petition in the family court in 2018 and demanded 15 thousand rupees every month from her husband as compensation for her livelihood. The wife said that her husband gets a pension of about 35 thousand rupees every month and in such a situation she should get 15 thousand as compensation. But in its order, the court asked Munesh Kumar to pay alimony, but only 5 thousand rupees every month. The husband challenged this in the High Court, which was heard on 24 September.

High court’s strict comment in alimony case

Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery was hearing this petition. He commented, “It seems that Kali Yuga has arrived. Such legal battles are a matter of concern.” He also tried to advise the couple. Gayatri said that we had asked for alimony and the family court had ruled in our favor. After that, the husband has challenged the court’s order.

Currently, the High Court has issued a notice to Gayatri and said, we hope that she will reach some settlement by the next hearing.
