A veteran female hairdresser of the Bengali film industry tried to commit suicide by writing a suicide note alleging serious harassment against the Hairdressers Guild. She wrote this note on the night of September 21, in which she named 11 members of the Hairdressers Guild. A written complaint has also been lodged at the Haridevpur police station. The hairdresser was rescued by her daughter and taken to MR Bangur Hospital in Tollygunge. She also poured kerosene oil on herself to commit suicide. Bengali actress Sudipta Chakraborty shared this sad news by sharing a post on Facebook.

A Bengali hairdresser made a shocking revelation.

The veteran hairdresser alleged that on May 1, the guild suspended her for three months. The reason behind her suspension is not yet clear from the suicide note. In an interview with India Today, she said that she had been raising her voice for a long time demanding freedom from the Hairdresser Guild, but became a political target of the officials and she was being harassed in every way. Initially, she was suspended for three months, but when her suspension was over, they repeatedly started targeting her work in different ways. She was not being allowed to do good work in the industry.

Before committing suicide, the hairdresser accused 11 people.

The senior hairdresser has written in her note, ‘I was suspended for three months from May 1, but even after that, I was not allowed to work properly. I was not able to fulfill my family responsibilities properly, so I was forced to commit suicide. The committee members of my guild are responsible for this.’ She has also written the names of 11 members of the guild in the same note. A written complaint has been filed against the guild members at the Haridevpur police station. Kolkata Police DCP (South-West Division) Rahul Dey said, ‘We received the complaint at around 9 pm. She was immediately taken to the hospital along with her daughter in the car of our additional officer in charge of the police station for treatment. Investigation is being done. Appropriate action will be taken after the investigation report.’

The hairstylist had asked for help before committing suicide.

Bengali actress Sudipta Chakraborty protested against this incident and posted about it on her social media, saying, ‘Yesterday evening I got a message from his number. He messaged me and asked for help. But unfortunately, I was in class. So I could not reply on time. I am unable to forgive myself.’ Sudipta Chakraborty wrote on Facebook, ‘Our industry’s hair stylist Tanushree Das (Tanu), who came to this industry by holding my hand, is currently lying in the emergency room of the hospital. She wanted to commit suicide by writing a suicide note and pouring kerosene on herself. Somehow she was stopped and survived… She is undergoing treatment. A vivid example of the extent to which harassment can be done at the workplace is in front of my eyes.’
