United Nations: The program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the United Nations on September 28 has been suddenly changed. Let us tell you that now Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not state the annual general debate during the proposed United Nations General Assembly session here. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is likely to address in his place. This has come to light from the revised provisional list of speakers released by the United Nations. The Prime Minister is going to visit New York later this month. He is scheduled to address a grand community event at the 16,000-seat Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island on September 22.

A provisional list of speakers released by the United Nations in July for the general debate of the 79th session of the General Assembly said that Modi would deliver a statement in the high-level debate on September 26. However, according to a revised provisional list released on Friday, Foreign Minister Jaishankar is now likely to deliver a statement in the general debate proposed on September 28 instead of Modi. A note signed by Movses Abelian, Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management, has been released along with the list, which states that the revised list of speakers has been prepared “taking into account changes in the level of representation (‘upgrade’ and ‘downgrade’) and reflects the exchange between member countries.

The session of the United Nations General Assembly will run from 24 to 30 September

The general debate of the United Nations General Assembly session will be held from 24 to 30 September this year. Traditionally, the first speaker in the debate will be Brazil, which will open the high-level session on 24 September. The second speaker will be the United States, whose current President Joe Biden will deliver the last address of his tenure to the leaders of member countries from the UN platform. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will present his report before the start of the general debate, followed by the address of the President of the 79th session of the General Assembly. Before this session, Guterres will organize the ‘Summit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’ from 22-23 September. During this summit, world leaders will gather at the United Nations to adopt a treaty for the future, which will include a global digital contract and a declaration on future generations as a supplementary part.

More than 24 thousand Indians will be present in PM Modi’s program in New York

The UN said, “The summit is a high-level event that brings together world leaders to build international consensus on how to improve the present and secure the future.” Besides, more than 24,000 NRIs have expressed interest in attending the proposed community event in Long Island, which Modi will address. The Indian-American Community of USA (IACU) said in a statement that registrations for the ‘Modi and US Progress Together’ event have been done through 590 community organizations from across the US, all of which have signed on as ‘Welcome Partners’.
