Prayagraj: Puramufti police station of Prayagraj district has succeeded in arresting Shamshad, a henchman of mafia Atiq Ahmed. Shamshad is a resident of Beli. It is alleged that he was trying to escape with a bomb. On Friday, the police arrested him near Ponghat Bridge based on secret information. A case has been registered against him under section 392 and 120/211 IPS along with the Explosives Act.
Was seen in CCTV with Shaista Parveen
Police said that Shamshad was seen in CCTV footage with Atiq Ahmed’s wife Shaista Parveen last year. Shamshad was constantly living in hiding in Prayagraj and Pratapgarh. Police were looking for him for a long time. He is considered close to Atiq Ahmed’s family.
Police found Atiq Ahmed’s illegal property worth Rs 7 crore
Prayagraj Police has again started a campaign against the benami properties of mafia Atiq Ahmed. Prayagraj Police has so far searched and seized one and a half dozen illegal properties of mafia Atiq under the Gangster Act. In this connection, Prayagraj DCP Deepak Bhukar has launched a secret operation to trace Atiq’s illegal properties.
The team engaged in this operation has found land worth 7 crores belonging to the mafia Atiq Ahmed. This land is registered in different parts under different RG numbers. This land is included in the benami properties of Atiq Ahmed. After checking all the documents on this land, DCP City Deepak Bhukar has sent the file to the Commissioner’s Court. Now soon the Commissionerate Court will order to confiscate it under the Gangster Act, after which a government board will be installed on this land of Atiq.
Atiq was murdered in April 2023
Let us tell you that Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed by unknown assailants on 15 April 2023. Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, who were already lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat and Bareilly District Jail respectively, were brought to Prayagraj by the police in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal.
