Surprised, aren’t you? Yes, but it’s true. Starbucks’ new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Nicol will commute between his California home and Seattle headquarters by private jet. This has also led to criticism amid the company’s efforts to remain sustainable. Recently appointed Starbucks CEO Brian Nicol is not expected to commute to Seattle to work from the company’s headquarters. According to CNBC news, his offer letter, disclosed in an SEC filing last week, shows that Nicol will be allowed to use the company’s jet to travel between his California home and Seattle office three times a week.

The annual basic salary will be this much

According to the news, this revelation about the CEO is being considered a unique example of corporate hypocrisy regarding climate change. This is also at a time when Starbucks is promoting paper straws globally to reduce single-use plastic in its stores. The offer letter shows that Brian Niccol, 50, will receive an annual basic salary of $1.6 million as the CEO of Starbucks.

Required to work from the Seattle office for three days

The offer letter also specifies that he will not be required to commute to the company’s Seattle headquarters. He will be expected to commute to and from his home and make any necessary business travel to fulfill his role. During his tenure at Starbucks, Brian Niccol will have access to the company’s plane to travel between his home city and the headquarters in Seattle. According to a company spokesperson who spoke to CNBC, Niccol is required to work from the Seattle office at least three days a week, as per Starbucks’ hybrid work policy.

Such arrangements have already been made

According to a company spokesperson, Brian will spend most of his time at our Seattle support center or meeting partners and customers in our stores, roastery, roasting facilities, and offices around the world. His schedule will exceed the hybrid work guidelines and workplace expectations we set for all partners. Brian had previously successfully managed a similar arrangement during his tenure as CEO of Chipotle. Chipotle’s headquarters was initially just a 15-minute drive from his previous job.
