Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated wrestler Aman Sehrawat for winning the bronze medal in the 57 kg freestyle category at the Paris Olympics. Aman has won India’s first medal in wrestling at the Paris Olympics. Aman Sehrawat defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz 13-5 on points in the bronze medal match of the 57 kg freestyle category.

On India’s victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on the social media platform X, ‘Our wrestlers have made us even more proud. Congratulations to Aman Sehrawat for winning the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57 kg event at the Paris Olympics.’

Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the dedication and determination of wrestler Aman Sehrawat is clearly visible. The whole country is celebrating this remarkable achievement.

 

 

India got its first medal in wrestling at Paris Olympics 

Let us tell you that Aman Sehrawat has won the first medal for India in wrestling in the Paris Olympics. On Friday, in the bronze medal match of the 57 kg freestyle category, Aman defeated Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico by 13-5 points. 

Medals in wrestling in every Olympics since 2008

21-year-old Under-23 World Champion Aman lost 0-10 to Japan’s Rei Higuchi in the semi-finals. He was the only male wrestler from India to qualify for the Paris Olympics and he did not disappoint. India has won a medal in wrestling in every Olympics since 2008. Aman has continued this trend in the Paris Olympics as well. 

This is India’s sixth medal in wrestling

Sushil Kumar won bronze in Beijing (2008), Yogeshwar Dutt in London (2012), Sakshi Malik in Rio (2016), Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia won silver and bronze medals respectively in Tokyo 2021. Another medal has come in wrestling yesterday. This is India’s sixth medal in the Paris Olympics.
