New Delhi:   Paush Purnima 2024: According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon of Shukla Paksha in the month of Paush is called Paush Purnima. Purnima Tithi has great importance in the Hindu religion. In Hindu religion, donation, bathing, and offering Arghya to the Sun God on the day of Paush Purnima has special significance. When is Paush Purnima:
According to the calendar, Paush Purnima is being kept on 25th January. Paush Purnima Tithi is starting at 9.52 pm today i.e. 24th January and will end on 25th January i.e. tomorrow at 10.26 pm. 

 

Importance of Paush Purnima:
According to the Hindu religion, Paush is called the month of the Sun God. The month of Magh starts after Paush Purnima and from this day itself, Magh Mela starts on the Sangam bank in Prayag Raj, in which lakhs of devotees coming from India and abroad take a dip in the Sangam bank. By worshiping the Sun God in this month one attains salvation. On the day of Paush Purnima, there is a tradition of bathing in holy rivers and offering Arghya to the Sun God. On this day, by worshiping both the Sun and Moon, wishes are fulfilled and obstacles in life are removed.

Worship method of Paush Purnima:
By bathing, donating, chanting, and fasting on Paush Purnima, one attains virtue and attains salvation. Worship of the Sun God on this day has special significance. Take a bath in the holy river or pond and pay obeisance to Lord Varun before bathing. After bathing, Arghya should be offered to Sun God while reciting the mantra of Sun God. One should give food to a needy person or a Brahmin and give alms. It is said that sesame seeds, jaggery, blankets, and woolen clothes should especially be given as donations.
