Karimganj (Assam), May 27 (Hindustan Times). Asar Uddin, the recently sacked principal of Bhanga Higher Secondary School in Karimganj district, has been arrested from Neelam Bazar in Karimganj on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl. According to a source, the rape accused teacher was arrested today from a political leader’s house in Neelambazar.
It may be noted that he was arrested from Nilam Bazaar on Saturday afternoon and brought to Karimganj under tight security. Later, when he was taken to court, he was sent to judicial custody on the order of the court.
Significantly, the student body ABVP staged a protest this afternoon demanding the arrest of Asar Uddin. ABVP had put up a road block in front of Karimganj College. Seeing this, the police had to arrest two student leaders.
However, till a report was sent to the Karimganj police, there was no comment on the news of the arrest of the accused principal. This has been confirmed by Karimganj Police Facebook page.
In this context, case no. 136/23 under 354 IPC, r/w Section 8 POCSO Act, Additional Section 376(3) IPC, r/w Section 6 POCSO Act, at Badarpur Police Station and arrested. A notice was given on social media.
