The process of enforcing dress code has started in some temples in Maharashtra. A dress code has been enforced in four temples in Nagpur by the Maharashtra Temple Federation. The federation claims that this dress code is enforced to preserve the sanctity of the temple.
Prohibition of entering the temple wearing obscene clothes
The Maharashtra Temple Federation says the dress code applies to many temples, gurudwaras, churches, mosques and other places of worship in the country. That is why it is prohibited to enter the temple wearing torn jeans, semi-naked clothes, ghagra, provocative clothes, indecent clothes. Even after that, if someone comes to the temple wearing such clothes, he will be given a cover, dupatta, lungi. After which they will be admitted.
A dress code was implemented keeping in mind the views of the MTF
The federation has said that it will be promoted and clothing like ripped jeans and skirts will soon be banned in 300 temples in Maharashtra.
