London: A couple in Britain has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of their newborn son. This information was given in a media report on Saturday.

In sentencing on Friday, Judge Amanda Tipples said Stephen Bowden and partner Shannon Marsden, from Chesterfield, Dubeyshire, had subjected their 10-month-old son Finlay to unimaginable cruelty.

On December 25 last year, Finlay was taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack and was later pronounced dead.

Finley’s bones were broken in 57 places as a result of the injury. There were 71 injury marks on his body. There were burn marks on his left hand as well.

Finlay’s broken bones led to infections including pneumonia and sepsis, which eventually led to his death.

According to the BBC report, toxicology tests found traces of cannabis in Finlay’s blood, indicating that he had consumed cannabis within 24 hours before his death.

After hearing the case, the court found Bowden and Marsden guilty.
