This visit will run from May 31 to June 3 and apart from meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will also hold other high-level meetings. Meanwhile, Nepal’s Ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi this week and discussed Prachanda’s upcoming visit.

Final preparations for grand tour

Nepal’s Foreign Minister NP Sayeed said on Thursday that preparations for Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit are in the final stages. As per the deal, a range of issues including water resources, energy cooperation, trade, commerce, transit and infrastructure will be discussed during PM Prachanda’s visit to India. During this some bilateral agreements will also be signed. Nepalese officials said that more than half a dozen agreements and MoUs would be signed and announced during this period.

These agreements will also include digital payment agreements. Through this, cross border payments can be made using e-wallets. Apart from this, an agreement will also be made on the construction of a bridge over the Mahakali river in Chandni-Dodhra and Jhulaghat areas of Kanchanpur and Darchula districts. An official of the Nepali Agriculture Ministry said that Nepal is also demanding Murah buffaloes from India. There is no consensus on the number, but talks are on. Further expansion of the India-financed petroleum pipeline within Nepalese territory, construction of integrated checkposts at Bhairawa, Chandni-Dodhra and Nepalgunj, development of the 480 MW Phukot-Karnali hydroelectric power plant and the Jaynagar-Kurtha-Bijalpura-Bardibas railway section. The 17 km track of the railway line extending up to Bijalpura can also be handed over.
