Many tourists stranded in Leh due to heavy snowfall were rescued by army and local police

Work is underway to evacuate passengers trapped in the Changla axis of Leh due to heavy snowfall. As a large number of tourists were trapped, the police carried out rescue operations yesterday evening.

 

 

Apart from the UTDRF rescue team of Ladakh Police, Army and Bereavement Rescue Team also actively participated in the rescue operation. Police said that due to their collective efforts no untoward incident took place and all the passengers were safely taken to Leh. Rescue operations were carried out due to continuous snowfall for the last two days.

In this way the lives of the passengers were saved

Many vehicles, especially tourist vehicles, including taxis and private cars, got stuck due to heavy snowfall at Changla peak. With inclement weather and intermittent snowfall, snow-covered roads, police teams from Kharu and Tangaste police stations reached Changla Top and rescued the stranded passengers. Women, children and tourists and people in self-driving cars were transferred to police vehicles and local taxis.
