Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got a big relief from Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. The court today allowed the petition filed for a new passport. That means they have got permission to make a new passport. Rahul Gandhi applied in court to get NOC for passport. Court has issued NOC for three years. Thus his passport will be valid for three years.

Subramanian Swamy protested

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is going to America next week. Earlier, he had applied in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court seeking NOC for a normal passport. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy opposed Rahul’s application. He has said that Rahul Gandhi has no valid or effective reason to issue a passport for 10 years. Swamy told the court that he (Rahul Gandhi) often goes abroad. His exit may affect the investigation.

Why did Rahul need a new passport?

In March this year, a Surat court convicted Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case and sentenced him to two years in jail. After this Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership was canceled under the People’s Representation Act. Rahul Gandhi surrendered his diplomatic passport after his membership of Parliament was revoked. Now Rahul is going to visit America. In such a situation, they need a passport for this. But he is facing trial in the National Herald case. He is out on bail in this case. In such a situation he needs NOC for a new passport and for this he has applied to the court.
