Denying Sengol’s history is shameful, why Congress hates Indian tradition and culture: Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed the Congress’ denial of the history of ‘transfer of power by Sengol’ as shameful and said why the Congress party hates Indian traditions and culture so much.

Union Minister Amit Shah said that now Congress has committed another shameful insult. Thiruvaduthurai Adhinam, a holy Shaivite monastery, itself speaks of the importance of Sengol at the time of India’s independence. Congress is lying about the history of Adhinam. Congress needs to reflect on its behavior.

He said that the sacred sengol was given to Pandit Nehru by the holy Saiva Math of Tamil Nadu as a symbol of India’s independence, but it was sent to the museum as a ‘walking stick’.

It is worth mentioning that the Congress party has questioned this by rejecting the history of ‘power transfer by Sengol’. The party has termed the claim of ‘WhatsApp University’ as false.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a statement that there was no documentary evidence of Mountbatten, Rajaji and Nehru describing the scepter as a symbol of the transfer of British power in India. All claims to this effect are indeed ‘bogus’.
