Siliguri: Police from NJP police station on Friday morning seized two quintals of 23 kg ganja from a 12-wheeler truck and arrested two persons. The arrested accused have been identified as Nitish Kumar and Mohd. Salam both are residents of Begusarai, Bihar. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is Rs 35 lakh.
According to police from NJP Police Station, a 12 wheeler truck was intercepted during an operation in Jiyaganj area of Phulbari early today. When the truck was thoroughly searched, two quintal packets of 23 kg ganja were found in the secret room, following which a case was registered under the NDPS Act and the driver and co-driver of the truck were arrested. During interrogation, the police learned from the accused that the ganja was being smuggled from Agartala in Tripura to Bihar. Police have taken further action.
