Lucknow 18 opposition parties, including the Congress, have boycotted the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building. These parties say that Parliament House should be inaugurated by President Draupadi Murmu instead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Regarding this, BSP President Mayawati said that the government has built this building, so it has the right to inaugurate it.
Responding to the opposition’s argument of linking the inauguration ceremony with the honor of tribal women, he said, “So they should think while fielding a candidate against President Draupadiji.”
However, he also said that he would not be able to attend Sunday’s event due to party meetings.
Be it the previous Congress-led government at the center or the current BJP-led government, I have always supported any government that rises above politics on issues of public interest, he wrote on his Twitter handle. Therefore, I welcome the inauguration of the new Parliament House on 28 May. Regarding not inaugurating the building, Draupadi Murmu said, ‘The government has built it, so the government has the right to inaugurate it. It is inappropriate to associate that ceremony with honoring tribal women. While fielding a candidate against Draupadiji, the opposition should have thought that he should not be elected unopposed.
