Bhopal, May 25 (Hindustan Times). Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang on Thursday restored traffic on Bharat Talkies ROB by conducting a trial run in Bhopal. Earlier, Minister Sarang himself inspected the completed repair work of the bridge by driving a jeep. Expressing satisfaction, he also praised the officials for completing the work within the stipulated time. Mayor Malti Rai, local public representatives, officials of public works department and residents were also present on the occasion.
Asphalting will be done after a week’s trial
Minister Sarang said that the Bharat Talkies ROB connecting the greater Bhopal area with Bhopal station has been reopened for traffic. A layer of mastic asphalt has not been placed on the bridge yet. After a trial run for a week, this layer will be laid, traffic has been resumed for the movement of passengers.
Due to the repair work, the age of the ROB increased by about 25 years
He said that the bearings and joints of the Bharat Talkies ROB manufactured in the year 1972 were completely worn out due to increased traffic pressure and their age. Due to which there was a possibility of a major accident. For this, 360 bearings and 15 expansion joints of the bridge have been replaced. The repairs have extended the life of the bridge by about 25 years.

Minister Sarang himself did a trial run on the bridge by driving a jeep for about half an hour. They drove a jeep on the other side of the bridge till Sangam Tirahe and reached Bhopal station platform no-1 near Bajria police post. Other two wheelers and four wheelers were also running along with the jeep.
It was instructed to complete the repairs by May 25
Expressing his displeasure over the delay in the repair work of the bridge, Minister Sarang, during an inspection on May 8, instructed to complete the work in 15 days till May 25. The work was completed within the time frame set by Minister Sarang, who expedited the work through the Public Works Department. It is worth mentioning that due to the repair work of the bridge, passengers have to cover a distance of 6 km. Had to take a long turn.
