DGCA to conduct audit before allowing GoFirst to take off

It is learned that aviation regulator DGCA has decided to audit GoFirst to gauge its preparedness before allowing it to fly again. GoFirst has stopped flights since May 3 due to cash crunch. It voluntarily filed for insolvency resolution process on 2 May.

In response to the show cause notice sent by it, a senior official of the Directorate General of Aviation said the airline has said it is working out the details to resume flights at the earliest. The airline said in a letter sent to its employees on Tuesday that the DGCA would conduct an audit in the coming days to verify our preparedness. We will resume operations after getting regulatory approval. He said that he is getting a lot of support from the government and has asked the airline to resume operations at the earliest. Besides this, the CEO of the company assured the employees that the salary for April would also be credited into the accounts of the employees before the resumption of operations. It was also said that from the next month the salary would be credited in the first week of every month. The communication was sent by Rajit Ranjan, Head of Operations, GoFirst. The DGCA issued a show cause notice to the budget carrier on May 8. This was done under the relevant provisions under the Aircraft Rules 1937. The airline had earlier canceled all its flights till May 26. The NCLT on Monday upheld the decision to file Voluntary Insolvency Resolution Process application before the NCLT.
