Rajasthan: 7-year-old girl married to 28-year-old man, family sold daughter for 4.50 lakhs

A shocking case has come to light from Rajasthan. Here in Manya police station area of ​​Dholpur district, a 7-year-old girl was bought for 4.50 lakhs and married to a 28-year-old man. On receiving the information, the police reached the house of the accused in the field and saw that a girl dressed as a bride was playing a game on a mobile phone. The police questioned her but she could not say anything.

SP Manoj Kumar said that Mania police station in-charge Lakhan Singh received information late on Tuesday evening that on May 21, seven-year-old Masoom was married to Bhopal Singh (28), a youth from a family in Virajpura. A team headed by CO Deepak Khandelwal was formed and raids were conducted after receiving information about child marriage from the village informant.

The SP said that when the police asked the women of the family present in the house about the accused, they first told their distant relatives. On not getting a satisfactory answer, the police interrogated him strictly, he said that he had bought the girl from a man in another village for Rs 4.50 lakh and married his son.

CO Deepak Khandelwal said that an investigation has been started in this matter. Who else is involved is being investigated. Suresh Chand, an ASI and child welfare officer posted at Mania police station, has registered a case under the Human Trafficking, Child Marriage and POCSO Acts.

 

Station in-charge Lakhan Singh said that the accused Mahendra Singh, who bought the minor, is a resident of Kisrauli village in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. 25 years ago, Mahendra and his brother Hakeem killed a young man of the family in a land dispute.

After serving the jail sentence in the murder case, the accused’s family started living in Virajpura of Dholpur village. When the police raided the house of the accused, the girl and the women of the house were found there. The women claimed to be distant relatives to mislead the police, but when subjected to strict questioning, they confessed to buying and selling the girl.
