Tweeting on the new Parliament building, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi today said that President Draupadi Murmu not inaugurating it and not inviting her to the ceremony is an insult to the country’s highest constitutional post. Apart from this, he also wrote that Parliament is not made of bricks of ego, but of constitutional values.
Which parties announced the boycott?
Former Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was the first to question the inauguration of Parliament by PM Modi. He said that it should be inaugurated by the President and not by the Prime Minister. After him, several opposition forces, including Congress President Mallika Arjun Kharge, opened a front. Now Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, Congress, AAP, NCP, CPI, CPI(M), AIMIM, RJD and JDU have also announced to boycott the event. Bengal’s ruling party TMC and Tamil Nadu’s DMK will also not participate in the event.
