Non-violence is paramount, there is no substitute for truth: Chief Minister

Dungarpur/Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the teachings of Lord Mahavir are an inspiration for all of us. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi also followed the path of truth, non-violence and peace as told by the Jain sages and succeeded in bringing freedom to India. We must imbibe this same message to ourselves and the generations to come. He said that there is no substitute for truth. Truth is God and service is supreme religion.

Gehlot attended the Panchakalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav of Jain Samaj’s Naveen Shantinath Jinalaya at Peeth (Seemalwada) in Dungarpur district on Tuesday. Worshiped in the temple and prayed for prosperity in the state. Appreciated for the arrangements while observing the newly constructed temple. He took the blessings of Jain sage Agni Sagar Maharaj. Along with this Jain theology written by Acharya Kanaka Nandi was also released.

The chief minister addressed the followers of Jainism in the festival. He said that he himself had his early education in a Jain school. There he read the lessons of peace and non-violence, adopted them in life and moved on. Mr. Gehlot said that it is on the basis of these principles that the United Nations has decided to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Gehlot said that the state government has made a provision of Rs 100 crore for the development of religious places in the state. Sammed Shikhar has been added to the pilgrimage sites of the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme. The government is leaving no stone unturned in the development and expansion of pilgrimage sites with commitment.
