Neeraj Chopra beats Anderson Peters of Grenada to become world No.1 javelin thrower

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has once again made the world proud. He has become the world No. 1 player in the current men’s javelin throw rankings published by World Athletics. Neeraj Chopra has achieved this feat for the first time in his career. Neeraj Chopra has left behind Grenada’s legendary javelin athlete Anderson Peters in this matter.

Neeraj Chopra tops the ranking

Neeraj Chopra is currently at the top of the latest World Athletics Rankings with 1455 points while Anderson Peters is ranked second in the world with 1433 points. He is 22 points behind Neeraj. Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Jakub Wadlje of Czech Republic is at the third position in the world rankings with 1416 points.

Neeraj became the first Indian player to win the Diamond League

On August 30 last year, 25-year-old Neeraj reached number two in the world rankings but could not overtake Peters after that. However, he won the Diamond League 2022 final in Zurich the following month, becoming the first Indian to win the tournament, and on 5 May he won the Doha Diamond League title with a javelin throw of 88.67 metres. Due to which he became the number-1 javelin thrower.
