Welding school is an important step towards self-reliant India: Krishna Pal Gurjar

Haridwar: A welding school for skill development has been set up under the Common Engineering Facility Center (CEFC) 5000 scheme at the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) at BHEL. Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjare Dr. Nalin Singhal, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL, inaugurated the Welding School in the presence of Praveen Chandra Jha, Executive Director, Haridwar Division.

Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries Krishna Pal Gurjar said in the program that building a strong nation is the prime objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For this, campaigns like Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India are being run under his guidance. He said that the manufacturing sector has an important role to play in this and the establishment of this welding school is also an important step in this direction.

Dr. Naleen Singhal said that through this school, on the one hand, the welding requirements of the industries will be met, on the other hand, the youth of Haridwar and its surrounding areas will also get employment opportunities. He said that apart from training in various welding techniques, the school will also give due attention to the overall development of the welder. Praveen Chandra Jha said that BHEL Haridwar will do its best to make this welding school a milestone in the path of self-reliant India.

It may be noted that these welding schools are being set up at Haridwar, Varanasi, Bhopal and Ranipet units under the leadership of BHEL Trichy under the Phase-II scheme to enhance the competitiveness of the Indian capital goods sector. Through this, every year 5000 welders nationally and 750 in Haridwar alone will be trained in traditional and advanced techniques related to welding. A total of 16 trainees will be imparted this training in the first batch of Haridwar unit.
