Kolkata: Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also going to join Arvind Kejriwal’s campaign against the central government’s ordinance to curb bureaucrats in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal, who is coming to Kolkata on Tuesday, will meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nawan.

Sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also with Kejriwal. A meeting will be held at the Secretariat here in the afternoon after which Arvind Kejriwal is likely to return to Delhi. There is no program of meeting with Aam Aadmi Party state unit leaders or workers during the visit to Kolkata. However, a delegation from the Bengal Aam Aadmi Party will accompany him from the airport itself.

In fact, recently the central government has brought an ordinance in Delhi, which states that orders regarding transfer-posting and other appointments of bureaucrats will remain in the hands of the centre. The BJP is in majority in the Lok Sabha but the unity of the opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha can stop the ordinance. That is why Arvind Kejriwal has gone to meet the heads of non-BJP parties across the country.

After meeting Mamata on Tuesday, Kejriwal will go to Mumbai on Wednesday and meet Uddhav Thackeray there. Arvind Kejriwal is likely to meet Sharad Pawar on May 25 in Mumbai itself. Congress has already announced its support to Kejriwal on this issue.

It may be noted that the Central Government has clarified in its Ordinance that Delhi is the capital of India which is directly under the President. In such a situation, the right of transfer of officials in Delhi will remain with the President. According to this ordinance, the transfer and appointment of officers in Delhi will be done by the National Capital Civil Service Authority.
