New Delhi : The process of changing Rs 2,000 note will start from today in all the banks of the country. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced this three days ago. Customers will be able to get the currency note of Rs 2000 changed in banks or deposited in their account till 30 September.
According to RBI, 2000 rupee note will remain legal even after 30 September. Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das said in a press conference a day ago that the existing notes will not be invalid. According to the guidelines of RBI, no identity card will be required nor any form will have to be filled to change the note.
According to the Reserve Bank, customers will be able to exchange only 10 notes of a maximum value of Rs 20,000 at a time, but there will be no limit on depositing these notes in the account.
