Development works are not being done in Panchayats as JE post is vacant in Rural Development Department: Gurdeep Singh Saini

RS. Pura, 22 May (Hindustan Times). State General Secretary of All Jammu-Kashmir Panchayat Conference and Sarpanch of Block RS Purani Gandli Panchayat Sardar Gurdeep Singh Saini while addressing a press conference on Monday said that due to the vacancy of JE posts in the Rural Development Department in all the districts of Jammu division, due to which development works in Panchayats have been hampered. Most of the development works in the Panchayats have been stalled due to JEE vacancies.

Panchayat Parishad leader Gurdeep Singh Saini said that the demand has been continuously made before the government on behalf of the sarpanches that the technical JE vacancies in the rural development department are creating a hurdle in the development works, but till date no decision has been taken in this regard. A step in this direction has been taken by the Lt Governor’s administration. He said that due to the stoppage of development works, the development works under the MNREGA scheme have also come to a halt, due to which the daily wages of the people employed under the MNREGA scheme are also being affected.

He said that development works in panchayats have come to a complete standstill for the past few months and even estimates are not being prepared due to JEE vacancies. Saini said that a delegation of sarpanches had met the officers of the RDD department and raised the issue before them but the department has not yet filled up the vacancies of JEs.

State General Secretary of Panchayat Conference said that JE posts are vacant in all blocks of Jammu district, which is affecting every panchayat of Jammu district. He demanded the government to issue a notification to fill up the vacancies soon. He said most of the JE posts in Bishnah, Suchetgarh, Arnia and Mira Sahib are vacant. He said that if the government does not take any step in this direction at the earliest, there will be a protest by the Panchayat Parishad in the coming days, for which the government and the RDD department will be responsible. Other people were specially present with him during the press conference.
