More than nine crore loans have been sanctioned to 45 people for self-employment under various schemes.

Gopeshwar: On Monday, 45 beneficiaries were selected for self-employment under Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism Self-Employment, Deendayal Upadhyay Home Housing and Trekking Traction Center schemes in Chamoli district. Sanctions were given for allocating loans of 9 crores, 81 lakhs, 92 thousand for self-employment to the beneficiaries selected by the committee.

A selection committee chaired by the District Magistrate selected three beneficiaries under Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism Self-Employment Yojana, including two non-vehicle, 38 homestay and seven other schemes by depositing the necessary documents in the bank within a week. Encouraged to start self-employment early.

District Tourism Development Officer S.S. Rana said that for the financial year 2023-24, the district tourism office has targeted 13 vehicles, nine in non-vehicle, 30 in home stay and 50 in trekking traction center-grant scheme. He informed that under Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism Self-Employment Scheme, loans up to 40 lakhs on non-vehicle head at 33 per cent grant for hotels/motels, fast food centres, workshops etc. and 25 per cent grant for commercial purchases. A new grant scheme called Trekking Traction Center-Home Stay is being run by the Govt. Under this scheme, Tapovan, Subhai, Ringi and Saldhar villages have been selected at Tapovan-Bhavishya Badri trekking junction in Joshimath block of the district. While Lohajung, Mundoli, Wank, Kuling, Wan, Didini, Valan, Himni and Ghes have been selected under Lohajung trekking route in Dewal. Under this scheme, there is a provision of grant for a maximum of six rooms at the rate of 60 thousand per room for new construction of homestays in selected villages. If someone wants to repair a homestay, there is a provision of giving a grant at the rate of 25 thousand per room.
