An Indian-origin Singaporean climber has gone missing after reaching the summit of Mount Everest, prompting his family to demand attention to his condition.

According to a petition filed on Change.org website, Srinivasa Saini Dattatreya traveled to Nepal from Singapore only last month to climb Mount Everest. His cousin said Srinivas fell ill due to frostbite and altitude while descending the peak. Due to this he got separated from his group and fell in the Tibetan area at an altitude of 8000 meters.

A Singaporean TV channel said a team of Sherpa has launched a search operation to find Srinivasa. Srinivasa’s family is in constant touch with the concerned government.

Srinivas, 39, is the executive director of real estate firm Jones Lang Lasser. He left Nepal for Mount Everest on 1 April and was scheduled to return home on 4 June. Srinivas last messaged his wife on Friday. He informed his wife of reaching the top of Mount Everest.

Srinivas’ entire family is in constant touch with the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi, local authorities in Nepal and emergency medical services. Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuously monitoring the incident.
