Assam Teacher New Dress Code: Assam government has announced a dress code for school teachers. While fixing the dress code for teachers, the government said that some teachers have a habit of wearing clothes that are not acceptable in public. The notification issued on Friday (May 19) said that teachers should wear light colored formal clothes in the classroom for teaching work and should not wear party wear.

Sharing the order on Twitter on Saturday (May 20), Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu wrote that there are some misconceptions about the dress code prescribed for school teachers. I am sharing notification for clarification regarding dress code for school teachers. The notification stated that it has been observed that some teachers have a habit of wearing clothes of their choice which are sometimes not considered acceptable in public.

He has further said that a teacher is particularly expected to exemplify all manners while performing his duties. Hence it becomes imperative to follow a dress code that reflects restraint, decorum and seriousness of purpose in the workplace.

As per the prescribed dress code, male teachers should wear only formal clothes, with formal shirt-pants being acceptable dress. Women teachers should wear salwar suit/sari. Clothing like t-shirts, jeans and leggings should not be worn. The notification said that both male and female teachers should wear appropriate and appropriate color clothes.
